NCAAF Bets: Week 1

College football is really, really here now. No, no, not that week 0 snooze fest that we were all acting excited about. I am talking real life full slate, every team, games from wall to wall for the next five days.

Whew sounds good just saying it out loud. I have 12 games circled on my paper, and am trying to talk myself into cutting the bet slip down to around 8 games.

This list will be my favorite six to eight plays of the week, starting Thursday and going through Sunday.

NCAAF Bets: (08/31/2023)

First Bet: Thursday Night Dogs

Kent will be on the road to open their season, and will be 37 point dogs. UCF at home has been becoming a powerhouse over the last few seasons.

No matter how I adjust this game, I still keep coming up with a shorter number than 37. I have this game being more of a 24-28 point victory for UCF.

I will back some road dogs first night of week 1. (Kent +37 -110)

Second Bet: Friday Night Brawl

Michigan State is such a basketball school, that their football facilities are named after basketball head coach Tom Izzo. However, Spartan football has become respectable the last two seasons.

At home on Friday night against Central Michigan, I will be on the big name school to cover a 14 point spread. (Michigan State -14 -110)

NCAAF Bets: (09/02/2023)

Third Bet: Michigan Mud Slide

Michigan will take on East Carolina at home to open their season. The fans will be screaming, the weather will be beautiful, and if you ask me, points will be scored.

Michigan is set right now as 36 point favorites, which is tempting. However the more I look at this game, I am seeing points in bunches.

I am looking for Michigan to run it up and send a statement to the world game one. Give me the over. (Michigan/ECU O 51.5)

Fourth Bet: Big 10 Fever

Usually when it comes to football I like to stick to the southern conferences, SEC and Big 12. However this week one I am having Big 10 fever, after taking Mich St, and the over on Mich, I will back Purdue.

This might be the trendiest pick I have this week. With so much noise around Purdue I am almost tempting to fade the public.

However, call me a sucker, I am going to ride the wave. Give me Purdue and I am laying the points. (Purdue -3.5 -110)

Fifth Bet: Bama Blowout

Alabama week 1 in a season where it feels like Nick Saban for the first time in a while has something to prove.

To keep this breakdown as simple as possible, my number on this game is an old school Alabama blow out. I have Alabama winning this game 64-7 and covering the over by themselves.

Sixth Bet: Battle of the Carolinas

While North Carolina and Drake Maye are looking to make a statement early on him maybe being the best player in football. South Carolina and longtime journey man Spencer Rattler will try be at home looking to make their own statement.

I am assuming these fast pace high powered offenses will duke it out, blow for blow. I will also be on UNC -2.5, yet the bet I like the most in this game is the over! (UNC/SC O 64.5 -110)

Seventh Bet: The Green Wave

Tulane Green Wave will host South Alabama in the primetime slot of Saturday’s slate. Tulane coming off of one of their best season to date, making and winning in dramatic come back fashion the Cotton Bowl.

I think Tulane will be one of the best teams this season ATS and in their conference. I look for this team to be a 1 loss team, and will back them week 1 laying the points.

This might be my favorite bet of this week, as my numbers have this game being closer to 17 than 7. (Tulane -6.5 -110)
