Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson is confident that he’ll be healthy for training camp after missing minicamp due to a shoulder injury.
“I’m all good,” Richardson told Swamp 247’s Zach Goodall. “Not really even a bump in the road. I feel like I tripped, I fell. Just got back up and hit the ground running again.”
Richardson was originally held out of on-field work after he experienced some pain in his throwing shoulder following an OTA practice. This happened earlier in June, and further evaluation showed he had aggravated the AC joint injury that ended his rookie season after only four games in 2023.
Head coach Shane Steichen was unsure of Richardson’s recovery timeline, but the team was optimistic he’d return during training camp and didn’t require surgery.
Injuries have plagued the Richardson his whole career, and especially since he has entered the league. He’s played 15 of a possible 34 games over two seasons thanks to a shoulder injury as well as back and foot issues in his sophomore season.
Richardson has passed for 2,391 yards, 11 touchdowns, 13 interceptions, with a 50.6% completion rate. Indianapolis signed Daniel Jones to compete with Richardson for the starting role ahead of the 2025 season. While this might not be a total make or break season for Anthony Richardson, he really has to prove he has grown.
With the passing of Jim Irsay, everything truly seems on the table. A good season could mean the Colts keep their team together. A bad season could mean moving on from the General Manager, Head Coach, and maybe both quarterbacks. Hopefully Anthony Richardson can be ready to go by training camp, as this will be a huge season for him to leave a mark with this franchise.
