The Chicago Bears will be trading wide receiver DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills, sources told Ian Rapoport. The deal can’t be made official until the start of the new league year on March 11th, however.
The Bears will receive a 2026 second-round pick in compensation while the Bills get Moore and a 2026 fifth-round pick, according to told Tom Pelissero.
Moore has spent the past three seasons in Chicago after being acquired from the Carolina Panthers in a trade package for the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He is under contract through the 2029 season.
Moving on from Moore allows the Bears to create up to $16.5 million in cap space. Meanwhile, Buffalo takes on Moore’s $24.5 million salary for the 2026 season and assumes the $15.5-million guarantee in his contract for 2027, per Over the Cap.
DJ Moore racked up 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns in 2023, but his production dipped in the following two seasons. At the end of last year season as well, there was rumors and speculation that Moore and Williams were not getting along. Due to this, the Bears were about done with Moore. A lot of people have come to believe that this trade was a huge plus for the Bears, as they were planning to get rid of Moore here soon anyway.
The trade provides 2024 MVP Josh Allen with a top wideout. This should be a huge plus for Buffalo, as the Bills recorded the ninth-fewest receiving yards (2,107) by wide receivers in 2025, per NFL senior researcher Tony Holzman-Escareno.
Chicago’s pass-catching group features a young nucleus. Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III, and Colston Loveland are expected to see plenty of targets. If one was to assume, the Bears will be looking for Rome Odunze to step up into a bigger role.
