The Chicago Bears are making some GREAT moves. The Bears are trading a 2026 fourth-round pick to the Kansas City Chiefs for offensive lineman Joe Thuney, a source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Chicago is actively trying to rework its offensive and defensive line for next season. It sent a sixth-round pick to the Los Angeles Rams for interior offensive lineman Jonah Jackson earlier last week. The Bears have also brought in Drew Dalman, as well as adding two massive defensive lineman (Grady Jarrett and Dayo Odeyingbo.
Caleb Williams suffered more sacks than any other quarterback (68) in the NFL last season.
Thuney has been with the Kansas City Chiefs since he signed a five-year, $80-million contract during free agency in 2021. He spent the first five years of his career with the New England Patriots.
The 32-year-old is set to become a free agent in 2026. According to Over The Cap, He has one year remaining on his deal and is projected to have a $26.9-million cap hit for the upcoming season.
Thuney has primarily been a guard in the NFL but volunteered and was moved outside to offensive tackle late last season as the Chiefs struggled to find a starting-caliber left tackle throughout the year. Thuney allowed two sacks and 35 pressures in 365 pass-blocking snaps last year, according to PFF.
Thuney has started 146 games over his nine year career.
