Arkansas hosted Ole Miss on Wednesday and looked to bounce back after a horrible loss on Saturday to Tennessee. The exact opposite happened as Ole Miss held Arkansas to 66 points while scoring 73 themselves.
Ole Miss improves to 2-0 in SEC play while Arkansas falls to 0-2. The new regime in Arkansas under John Calipari is not off to a good start. The Razorbacks had glaring red flags early in the season, and it appears none of them have been addressed.
Coach Calipari arrogantly and ignorantly stated that he decided to not even have a shoot around on Saturday going up against the No. 1 team in the nation. A game in which Arkansas lost 76-52.
Arkansas has Glaring Problems
There are two glaring truths about this season’s Arkansas team. The first being that this offense has the ball movement of a one on one basketball game in the backyard. The second being against good teams, the Razorbacks are 1-4.
With losses to Baylor, Illinois, Tennessee, and now Ole Miss; and the one quality win coming against Michigan.
The nightmare will continue for this team if they do not fix things and fix things fast. The SEC is the deepest and toughest conference by far this season. Next thing we know it will be March, and I do not think Arkansas will be a part of the festivities this season with what we have seen.
Ole Miss is Rolling
Ole Miss on the other hand in Chris Beard’s second season has been magnificent. Their resume is already looking amazing and their first two SEC games proves how good they are.
With wins against Georgia (13-2), and Arkansas (11-4), Ole Miss has given themselves a 2-0 start to conference play.
The non-conference schedule for the Rebels got them ranked in the top 25, and this past week will only improve that number. They are now 13-2 on the season with their only two losses coming against Purdue and Memphis. Both of those teams looking to be Sweet 16 favorites early.
What’s Next for these teams?
Ole Miss will look to keep things rolling this weekend against LSU before traveling to Alabama next Tuesday. I like this team a lot, and I have been riding them since November.
Arkansas will look to right the ship against No. 8 Florida, who I am sure will be ranked even higher come Monday.
