Winners
- Kansas – Missouri – Fresno state
This is a three way tie for all of these squads. If I am not mistaken, none of these teams were ranked to begin the season. All of them have had a really good start to the year, and have been given a rank due to that. These are teams that have a chance to have a really good season, so I am excited to watch. While one or two may drop out, I can expect one of these teams to make a bowl by the end of the season.
2. Washington State
This squad had a big win against Oregon State on Saturday to move them up the AP Poll. WSU has been climbing in the standings for 2-3 weeks now, and they may just have a squad. QB Cam Ward went 28-of-34 for 404 yards, with four passing touchdowns and a rushing score. His 95.0 completion percentage (19-of-20) in the first half is the best against a ranked team in the past 20 years with a minimum of 15 attempts. They take on UCLA next week, and this is a game I am excited to watch.
3. Ohio State
The Buckeyes find themselves in the top 4 after a major win in South Bend this weekend. Ohio State survived, and scored late to beat Notre Dame. Kyle McCord had himself a prove it drive, and proved that he may just be a guy. McCord impressed me a lot with his last drive, and Ohio State seems to be back to clicking on almost full cylinders. I look forward to watching this team as they continue to build. This is because in 3 weeks they take on Penn State.
Losers
- Colorado
This was a tough Matchup for the Colorado Buffaloes, and the Ducks emphasized that. Colorado got destroyed on both sides of the Line, and Oregon did basically whatever they wanted. This was the first big step back for Colorado. I think they can bounce back, but this was a concerning loss. Bouncing out of the top 25, the Buffaloes are one of this week’s losers. Colorado can have a bounce back chance next week against USC.
2. Iowa
Iowa travels to play Penn State in the White Out game. Penn State beat down Iowa bead, beating them 31-0. Iowa’s offense has been hit and miss this year so far, and they di not fair well in their first true test. This game bounced Iowa out of the top 25, and I have no clue if we will see them again. Penn State was their best chance to get a great win on the board, and they did not.
Iowa can still have a good season and be ranked again, but they will need to basically go perfect from here on out. Bouncing out of the top 25 makes Iowa a loser in this week’s AP poll.
3. Oregon State
Oregon State took a little fall after a tough loss to Washington State. The Beavers were able to run the ball, racking up 242 yards and four touchdowns, but the early deficit made it difficult for OSU to play the style it prefers. And that played right into Washington State’s hands. Oregon State does not have much time to recover, as they take on Utah this next week. Oregon State will need to come out a bit better, or this could be a bad two game stretch for them.
