Colorado plans to play this week without one of their top players.
The Buffaloes won’t have Travis Hunter in uniform Saturday when they play USC. The cornerback/wide receiver sent a text message to head coach Deion Sanders pleading to make his return. Travis Hunter has been out after suffering a lacerated kidney in a win over Colorado State on Sept. 16. This is what Hunters text to Coach Deion Sanders said:
“I need to play this week. We need to get everything we can so I can get back on the field. I’m not taking no for an answer,”
Sanders, however, is thinking more long term with his star 2 way player. This was Coach Primes response:
“I care about you more than I care about this game,” Sanders said. “You’re going to change the game of football one day when you get healthy and ready. Your future is brighter than mine ever will be and ever was. Relax and get healthy. I love you, son.”
Hunter has been a star for Colorado and may be their best player on both sides. Hunter posted 16 receptions for 213 yards in three games on offense. He also recorded nine tackles, two pass breakups, and one interception on defense.
Colorado takes on USC next, and this is another test for Coach Sanders and his squad. Comin in as 21.5 dogs in this matchup, it will be another tough battle for the Colorado Buffaloes.
