Jordan Love is getting a speed weapon back for Thursday Night Football. Wide receiver Christian Watson expects to make his first appearance of the 2023 season on Thursday night against the Detroit Lions.
“That’s the plan,” Watson said Tuesday, according to The Athletic.
Watson has been out for the first few games with a hamstring injury. This is the same injury he dealt with last year.
The 2022 second-round pick led the Packers in receiving touchdowns during his rookie year with seven. He also caught 41 passes for 611 yards. He is a huge speed and downfield threat for the Packers. Watson coming back should help the Packers offense.
Meanwhile, Pro Bowl running back Aaron Jones hasn’t played since totaling 127 yards from scrimmage on 11 touches — 41 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown plus 86 receiving yards.
If Aaron Jones cannot make it back, Watson being on the field will be a huge adage to the offense. The Packers sat a few big key guys for the Saints game, so I am curious to see who else will be ready to go for this game.
