The Minnesota Vikings agree to terms with cornerback Byron Murphy ahead of free agency, the team announced.
Murphy, who is 27, has signed a three-year, $66-million contract sources told Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.
Murphy earned his first career Pro Bowl nod after a really good 2024 season in which he recorded 81 tackles (six tackles for loss) and six interceptions.
Murphy has spent the last two seasons with the Vikings after his first four years of his career came with the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals selected him in the second round of the 2019 draft.
Minnesota is keeping one of its starters in the fold after seeing several contributors from its 14-3 team leave during the free agency. Some examples of this are quarterback Sam Darnold and safety Camryn Bynum, who are among the notable departures from last year’s roster.
The Vikings could have a different look next season, with Stephon Gilmore and Shaq Griffin set to become unrestricted free agents. They also have the questions of who will be the starting quarterback? J.J. McCarthy seems like the guy as of now, but we will have to wait to be for sure.
