After what most people around UCLA Basketball would call a down year, to say the least. The Mighty Mighty Bruins are off to a hot start.
After taking down number 12 Oregon yesterday in buzzer beater fashion it is safe to say that UCLA Basketball is back to elite status.
Mick Cronin in his sixth season has head coach of UCLA has them off to an 8-1 start. With the buzzer beater against Oregon, giving the Ducks their first loss of the season, we can officially say that the woes of last season are over.
UCLA Basketball Preparing for BIG 10 Play
Transitioning from the Pac-12, the conference of champions, to the BIG 10 will be a new endeavor for the Bruins. The BIG 10 is known for a tougher brand of basketball than any school in California is used too.
However there is no coach tougher than Mick Cronin. Rest assure toughness will be the one thing guaranteed to show from this seasons UCLA Basketball team.
UCLA will play four more non conference games before enduring on the BIG 10 conference play. Three of those games are against elite competition in Arizona, North Carolina, and Gonzaga.
UCLA is already 2-0 against BIG 10 competition on paper, however, has yet to face what traditional fans call a true BIG 10 team. Both wins coming over Washington and Oregon, two teams who were previously part of the Pac-12 with UCLA.
I have confidence to say Mick Cronin and the UCLA Bruins will show up and bring intensity all season. I do expect this team to be a 6-9 seed in one of the four brackets come selection Sunday in March.
