The Seattle Seahawks are signing free-agent cornerback Trevon Diggs to a one-year deal, sources told Adam Schefter. Diggs worked out for the Seahawks earlier last week before the Seahawks ended up signing him.
Diggs played for the team’s defensive coordinator, Aden Durde, when Durde was a defensive line coach with the Dallas Cowboys from 2021-23.
Diggs was waived by the Cowboys last December after he landed on injured reserve due to lingering concussion issues. He was then claimed by the Green Bay Packers, where he played in two games before being released after the season.
Diggs has suited up in just 31 regular-season games over the last five seasons because of multiple injuries, one of those being a torn ACL. That injury came during the 2023 season, just months after signing a five-year, $97-million extension with Dallas. Since that injury, Diggs has really struggled to stay on the field.
The Maryland native has made two Pro Bowls so far during his career. He led the league with 11 interceptions in 2021 and earned first-team All-Pro honors that season as well. Diggs has recorded 63 passes defended and 20 interceptions in 67 games since being selected in the second round of the 2020 draft.
Seattle still plans to sign free-agent cornerback Terrion Arnold, according to Schefter. However, Arnold is expected to be placed on the commissioner’s exempt list for an unknown amount of time, which would prohibit him from practicing or playing in games.
