The Indianapolis Colts are signing wide receiver Keenan Allen to a one-year contract worth up to $8.32 million, sources told Adam Schefter.
Keenan Allen spent the 2025 season with the Los Angeles Chargers, catching 81 passes for 777 yards and four touchdowns during his second stint with the team. The biggest stats for Allen last season though was not only did he lead the Chargers in receptions, he also played in every game last season.
The 34-year-old has been in contact with the Colts for multiple weeks, and reuniting with head coach Shane Steichen was a big factor in his decision to sign with Indy, according to Jordan Schultz.
Steichen originally served in multiple roles for the Chargers from 2014-20, helping Allen become one of the NFL’s most reliable pass-catchers during that time. Steichen spending all that time with the Chargers was also a reason the Colts brought back Philip River last season for a couple of games.
Alec Pierce, who is the Colts’ number one receiver coming into the season, remains sidelined at training camp after undergoing ankle surgery. It’s unclear when he’ll return, but the Colts are optimistic he will be ready for Week 1.
Indianapolis traded Michael Pittman Jr. to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the offseason, leaving Pierce and Josh Downs as the team’s top WR options. Allen will add immediate depth and experience to the unit, as well as he will be a massive help in a leadership role.
Allen has racked up 1,055 career receptions for 12,051 yards and 70 touchdowns since the Chargers drafted him in the third round in 2013.
Keenan Allen ranks number 10 all-time in receptions for a wide receiver. If he is able to get 48+ receptions this season, he will be in the top three OF ALL TIME IN THE NFL. This should be a great a great pickup for the Colts.
