UConn Basketball turning things around by focusing on defense.

The world was collapsing for the back to back National Champion UConn Huskies. After a brutal week in Maui two weeks ago, losing all three games in the Maui Invitational.

Since then they have won three in a row. Holding those three opponents to an average of 60.6 points per game.

The effort and attention to detail on defense is what got UConn back on track. It is also what will be the reason they are successful this season.

This Huskies group does not have the offensive firepower to go out score opponents winning games in the high 80’s and 90’s.

This team will have to learn to rely on getting stops in order to win, especially down the stretch.

UConn needs to Let Go of the Past

As of right now the UConn Huskies do not even look like the best team in their conference, the Big East, much less like the best team in the country.

However, they have shown that they mentally understand their strengths now, defense. Some would say the three game slide in Maui could be the best thing to happen to them.

Killed their egos of being champions, the jab, hook, and uppercut their received over those three games taught them to keep their guard up.

Two impressive wins against two elite programs in Baylor and Texas this past week should give the fans in Connecticut peace of mind.

Peace of mind that at the very least, this team has learned from their arrogance and mistakes.

UConn Basketball Putting Defense First

Putting defense first is what built this dynasty three seasons ago, and in the flurry of success and NBA talent on offense, it was out of sight.

UConn getting back to basics and guarding like their life depends on it is a beautiful sight to see.

UConn will play one more non conference game, a big one against Gonzaga on Saturday night before hunkering down for Big East Conference play. Where they will be a target every single night.
