The Seattle Seahawks released Tyler Lockett to go along with the other moves they have made this offseason.
Lockett tweeted:
I really enjoyed being in Seattle! I met so many great people and captured so many great memories! The 12’s really make this place meaningful! Although, my time on the Seahawks may have run its course I’m thankful for everything!!God gets all the glory forever!!!!
Releasing Lockett gives Seattle $17 million in salary cap relief for this season, according to Mike Garafolo. Lockett was projected to have an $18.8-million cap hit in 2025, according to Over the Cap.
Lockett, 32, spent 10 seasons with the Seahawks after they selected him in the third round of out of Kansas State. He’s only missed three regular-season games during his NFL career, and was a steady production guy for the Seahawks.
Lockett had four consecutive 1,000-plus-yard seasons from 2019-22. He has 8,594 receiving yards and 61 touchdowns his career, playing 161 games.
