The Seattle Seahawks are trading wide receiver DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a second-round pick, sources told Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.
The Steelers and Seahawks will also swap picks in the sixth and seventh rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft, according to Adam Schefter. Pittsburgh is also rewarding Metcalf with a new five-year, $150-million contract.
Metcalf had one year remaining on the $72-million extension he signed in July 2022, according to Over the Cap.
The two-time Pro Bowler reportedly requested a trade from the Seahawks early into the offseason. Seattle also dealt quarterback Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason.
Metcalf collected 1,000 or more yards in three seasons, and has tallied 900 yards in each season since he was drafted in 2019. The 27-year-old caught 66 passes for 992 yards and five touchdowns in 2024.
Metcalf bolsters Pittsburgh’s receiving room, as the 6-foot-4, 235-pound star wideout will line up alongside George Pickens and join a receiver room that also includes Calvin Austin and Roman Wilson.
It still remains unclear who will be under center in Pittsburgh. Quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields are both with new teams, as Wilson joined the Giants, Fields joined the Jets
The Seahawks also released Tyler Lockett earlier this offseason and will have a new look under offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Jaxon Smith-Njigba will headline the revamped unit after leading the team in receptions, yards, and TDs last year.
