The Los Angeles Chargers are bringing back wide receiver Mike Williams, the team announced.
It’s a one-year contract worth up to $6 million, sources told Jordan Schultz.
Williams spent the first seven years of his career with the Chargers before splitting 2024 between the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers.
The 30-year-old totaled 309 receptions, 4,806 yards, and 31 touchdowns during his first stint in L.A. The Chargers drafted Williams in the first round of the 2017 draft out of Clemson. Los Angeles cut him after the 2023 season coming off a torn ACL.
Williams had 21 catches for 298 yards and one touchdown in a limited role in New York and Pittsburgh last season. The Steelers acquired him from the Jets before the midseason trade deadline.
The Chargers needed to add depth to their receiver room this offseason. Rookie Ladd McConkey led the team in receiving in 2024, followed by Quentin Johnston and Josh Palmer – the latter of whom left to the Buffalo Bills in free agency. Don’t be surprised if the Chargers add another name or two along with Mike Williams.
