It is Week 9 for College football. There are a lot of exciting games, and a few sides I enjoy. Here are my plays for the day.

Check out the latest episodes of the JCPod and Captain By A Hook for my full breakdowns. All odds are from FanDuel, DraftKings, and BetMGM.

Straights

IU team total over 6.5 (-138)

Indiana has some athletes on their team. I understand they might not be the best team in the B10, but -6.5 is way too low for a power 5 team. Penn State’s defense is good, but I feel they will eventually give up a touchdown. Give me the Hoosiers team total over -6.5.

Northwestern +13.5 (-104)

Maryland is coming off a bye so that does scare me. Northwestern has also had its issues this year. I feel as if NW will be able to hang around long enough in this game to backdoor. There is a world where Maryland’s offense comes back to life, but they have been down the last 2 games they have played. Give me NW to keep it within 2 touchdowns.

Duke +6.5 (-115)

Defense travels, and I’m riding Dukes defense here. If Riley Leonard plays, he will be playing at around 70% of himself. Louisville is coming off a bye, but they have shown they can get got. I like Duke’s defense to do well enough to allow Duke on offense to impose the run game. Give me Duke to cover.

Virginia +18.5 (-110)

Both Miami and Virginia are coming off big wins. Virginia won as a 23.5 point dog, and Miami beat Clemson in double OT.  It will be interesting to see how both teams come into this mentally after very exciting games. I will be taking Virginia to keep it within reach, and not lose by more than two touchdowns. Give me Virginia to cover.

Tulane -10.5 (-105)

Tulane has been on fire as of late against non ranked opponents. They have a huge win streak going into this game with that. They also are on a 5 game heater this season looking to make it 6. Due to this, I will be taking Tulane to cover versus a Rice team that has not been the best this year.

Colorado +16.5 (-110)

UCLAs defensive front does scare me in this matchup. However, I feel as if both of these fast paced offenses may be able to off balance that a bit. Colorado is coming off a horrible loss and bye. I look for them to get back right here. If Colorados offense can protect Sheduer Sanders, the Buffaloes have a chance. Give me Colorado to cover.

Kentucky +3.5 (-110)

This is a good test for Kentucky. After two really rough games, they get a chance to take down Tennessee. Tennessee is coming off a rough loss to Alabama.  Both of these teams could use this win. I like Kentucky to get the run game back on track, and to defend the home turf/grass. Give me Kentucky +3.5 in this Week 9 matchup.

Air Force -13.5 (-115)

Air Force has done well for me. They have covered in every week I have bet them excluding one. Due to this, I will be taking them again, even at this big spread, against Colorado State. I am a bit nervous about this line, but Air Force has not let me down much this year. Give me Air Force to impose their will on the ground, and to win by two touchdowns in Week 9.

Oklahoma state -7.5 (-102)

Oklahoma State has got better week by week. The are coming off 2 100+ yard rushing efforts in a row. I look for them to establish the run again here against Cincinnati. Give me Oklahoma State to cover.

James Madison -20.5 (-115)

They have covered for me all year, and I’m looking for them to do it again. James Madison takes on an Old Dominion team that has been so-so this year. This is James Madison’s first time being ranked this year, and I look for them to make a statement. Give me James Madison to cover.
