It is finally here! College Football Playoffs Round 1 begins tonight, and continues in this Saturday. With four awesome playoff games to watch there should be a lot of excitement on each campus. Anything can happen on any given Saturday (or Friday in one games case), so look for some magic this weekend.

Here are my plays for the College Football Playoffs Round 1.

Straights

Friday

Indiana – Notre Dame over 50.5

When it comes to this game, it’s like picking your favorite child. Notre Dame is a lifelong team that I have been a fan of. As for Indiana, Curt Cignetti has made me so much money the last two years, with this year being a fun ride as an Indiana native. Personally, I took Indiana +7.5 but also took Notre Dame money line. If that doesn’t tell you how I view this game, let me put it this way.

Ya boy is lost in the sauce.

As for the over, I look for this to be around a 27-24 final, with points able to be added/subtracted on either side. Indiana has the chance to put up points, but this Notre Dame defense is truly good. As for the other side, if Indiana’s defense shuts down the Irish rushing attack, then Notre Dame could get stuck in the mud. I think Notre Dame wins this game, I just feel as if IU keeps it close?

Saturday

Smu +8.5 (-110) & game total over 53.5 (-105)

This is just a simple fade of James Franklin. In big games at home, they have not always gone the best for James Franklin’s Nittany Lions. I will admit, I did like what Penn State showed against Oregon. I look for Kevin Jennings to give Penn State issues with his legs, allowing SMU to stay within a touchdown. A fear I do have is how slow of a start will SMU have? They have to start fast, or Penn State will look to control the pace of the game. With how talented these two offense are there could be a good amount of scoring in this game.

Clemson +12.5 (-110)

I will not be shocked if Texas wins 31-3. I also feel as if Clemson has a true shot to win this game. While the Texas defense is truly great, Quinn Ewers has been struggling a bit as of late. If Texas wants to win this game, they will need Ewers to play really well. I will also be truly shocked if the Longhorns do not use Arch Manning more in the red zone this game.

Regardless, I look for Clemson to keep this game within two touchdowns, as Dani Sweeney has a ton of playoff experience and should have the boys ready to play.

Tennessee +7.5 (-120)

This game has so much riding on it for Ohio State. With all of the outside noise that is going on, this is a huge opportunity for Ohio State to right some wrongs and get back on track. They have to come out hot early however, as there is a chance the boo birds could be out early (thanks to Michigan), making it a very uneasy atmosphere. For this game, I look for Tennessee to just keep it close. Tennessee needs to get Dylan Sampson rolling, as he could be a huge factor in them not only covering, but maybe just maybe even winning.

Props

Tennessee team total over 19.5 points (-122)

I just like this number. They have a tough matchup against the Buckeyes, but this Tennessee offense has shown it can put up points. They have scored 20+ points in 10 of their 12 games, but those two games they did not hit the over were losses. If the Volunteers can get Sampson going, then I like their chances to score 20+ points.

Dont’e Thornton Jr. over 34.5 receiving yards (-114)

I think this number is a bit too low. Thornton is a big play threat, so this total feels a bit low with how much potential Thornton has. He could hit this over in two or three receptions.

Tyler Warren over 70.5 receiving yards (-114)

Tyler Warren will need to have a big game to help Penn State win against SMU. Being their best receiving weapon, I look for him to hit this over.

Anytime touchdown scorers

Jeremiyah Love -220

Riley Leonard -155

Elijah Sarratt +220

Tyler Warren -155

Kevin Jennings +310

Phil Mafah +120

Dylan Sampson -150

Jeremiah Smith +115

Will Howard +150
