The Seattle Seahawks signed reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year Jaxon Smith-Njigba to a four-year, $168.6-million extension, sources told Adam Schefter.

Smith-Njigba’s reported new deal now makes him the highest-paid receiver in NFL history at an average of $42.15 million per year. The deal also includes over $120 million in guaranteed money, adds Schefter.

Smith-Njigba will now be under contract with Seattle through the 2031 season. This extension comes days after the Seahawks picked up the fifth-year options on the rookie deals of Smith-Njigba and cornerback Devon Witherspoon.

The 24-year-old enjoyed an insane season in 2025, catching 119 passes for a league-leading 1,793 yards and 10 touchdowns. These accolades helped to earn him a first-team All-Pro nod. Smith-Njigba also added on 17 receptions for 199 yards and two scores during Seattle’s Super Bowl LX title run.

Seattle continues to reward some of its recent draft picks with lucrative extensions. Left tackle Charles Cross signed a four-year, $104.4-million extension in January. The Seahawks are now expected to work on an extension with Witherspoon, who currently had his fifth year option picked up.

With this new agreement, the wide receiver market price jumped, and may even do it again. Smith-Njigba’s deal eclipses the $40.2-million average annual value of the contract Ja’Marr Chase signed in March 2025. Now Los Angeles Rams standout Puka Nacua, who is eligible for an extension this offseason, could reset the market at the position again. With the wild offseason he had however, it will be interesting to see if that affects the price.
