The Seattle Seahawks will kick off the 2026 NFL regular season on Wednesday, Sept. 9. This game will be at home against the New England Patriots, giving us a rematch of last years Super Bowl.

The league revealed Seattle’s first opponent as a precursor to the schedule release earlier this offseason. This will now be only the fifth NFL game played on a Wednesday since 1950.

The NFL is moving the season opener up 24 hours from its traditional weekday, Thursday. This will allow the league to accommodate the first-ever game in Australia they will have going on this season.

The San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams will face off in Melbourne on Thursday, Sept. 10, at 8:35 p.m. ET. In Australia, the game takes place Friday, Sept. 11, at 10:35 a.m. local time. This will give us a rematch of the NFC championship game from last season.
