It has been a long and wild early start to the NFL career of Zach Wilson. Maybe a change of scenery will help?

The New York Jets are trading Zach Wilson to the Denver Broncos in a deal that includes a late-round pick swap, sources told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Denver will receive Zach Wilson and pick number 256 in exchange for pick number 207, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Both Teams are expected to evenly split Wilson’s $5.5-million guaranteed training camp roster bonus as well.

The former BYU quarterback has struggled to develop over his first two NFL seasons. This led the Jets to go after Aaron Rodgers before the 2023 season to not only start, but maybe help show Zach Wilson how to be an NFL quarterback.

However, a season-ending injury to Rodgers in Week 1, four plays in at that, put Wilson back in the starting lineup. He was later benched down the stretch for Tim Boyle, then even asked to start again towards the end of the season when Boyles play was not as good.

Wilson ends his Jets tenure with a 12-21 record.  He had a 57% completion rate with 23 touchdowns to 25 interceptions.

He now comes to a Broncos quarterback room that includes Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci.

Broncos coach Sean Payton is on the lookout for a new top quarterback after the team parted ways with veteran Russell Wilson earlier this offseason following two disappointing seasons.

The Broncos may even draft a quarterback as well, so don’t ever rule that out of your mind.

In my opinion, the quarterback room will be Stidham, Wilson, and whoever the rookie is the Broncos drafted. Stidham seems to be Sean Payton’s guy. As for Wilson, the Broncos just traded for him so they showed that they will at least give him an opportunity.

I’m curious to see if the Broncos draft a rookie, as there are a few names that could make this quarterback room very interesting. J.J. McCarthy?
