Chicago White Sox have reached a new low in 2024.

The rebuild to the rebuild is officially leading to the beginning of another rebuild on the south side of Chicago.

Five years after a 2019 White Sox team looked to have a promising young core, this baseball team has reached a new low.

That 2019 team has mostly been traded or left in free agency, and the rebuild from 2022-2023 is simply put, not working.

White Sox Rock Bottom Stats

As a team in 2024 through the first 23 games, the Chicago White Sox have a record of 3-20. Yikes.

As a team, they are hitting .192 batting average, have an OBP of .266 and are Slugging .290 with an OPS of .556.

Out of the 23 games played, they have been shut out 8 times, and only scored one run in 3 games. Eleven games scoring 1 run or less.

These numbers for one player would result in him being placed in the minor leagues. What to do with a full team doing this?

The Manager Says…

Pedro Grifol was asked this very question about the state of the ball club. His response summed up why, I believe, they are in this position in the first place.

His response was “Our record sucks but what are you going to do about it?”

Just a sad, sad state of White Sox baseball. I fear with the talk of relocation and what is happening with the Oakland A’s is rubbing off on the front office.

If we become so bad that people stop showing up, we can say nobody is showing up, we need to move.

Just three seasons ago this team was young and winning. Now I know all of their pitching prospects got the short end of the stick with the sticky fingers ordeal, however, this team could be and should be better.
