After three incredible seasons on the Forty Acres, Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy has declared for the 2024 NFL draft.
Less than 24 hours after Texas’ heartbreaking loss to Washington in the College Football Playoff semifinal, Worthy announced via social media that he will enter the draft.
The 6’1, 172-pound speedster from Fresno, Calif. was a consistent threat in the passing game over the previous few years. Worthy made a name for himself with elusive speed, sharp route running, and home-run ability on any play. The wide receiver not only produced on offense, but special teams as well where he returned punts.
He set numerous Texas records and currently ranks third all time in career touchdown receptions. In total, Worthy caught 197 passes for 2,755 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also passed for a touchdown and returned a punt for a touchdown during his tenure in burnt orange. His contributions to the offense were undeniable.
The former Michigan signee played a crucial role in Steve Sarkisian’s offense. The Longhorns hope Houston transfer wide receiver Matthew Golden will help fill that void next season.
When it comes to this upcoming draft, Xavier Worthy is projected to go around Pick 24, but some other mock drafts have him going early in the second round.
