There is a new home for Van Jefferson.
The Los Angeles Rams are trading wide receiver Van Jefferson to the Atlanta Falcons, the teams announced Tuesday. The teams will swap sixth- and seventh-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft as a part of the deal.
This move is not too surprising, as rookie Puka Nacua has been a huge addition to the offense. With Kupp back, and Nacua playing the Robert Woods role from the old Rams offense, this made Jefferson the odd man out.
Jefferson fell down the Rams’ depth chart this season after Tutu Atwell and rookie star Puka Nacua emerged as more frequent targets. The former second-round pick only played two snaps against the Philadelphia Eagles after Cooper Kupp Returned from injury.
This should be a huge addition for the Falcons. The more weapons on offense the better. With a late round pick swap, it’s a low-risk, potentially high-reward move for Atlanta. The Falcons made a similar move this offseason. They made the trade with New England for tight end Jonnu Smith in March.
Smith now leads the Falcons in receiving yards (246) and is tied with Bijan Robinson for the team lead in receptions (21). Between Jonnu Smith, Bijan Robinson, Mack Hollins, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts, there are a lot of targets for Ridder to throw to.
