College Basketball Power Rankings 01/07/2025
This article is going to be exactly what it sounds like from the title. Every Tuesday I will release my top 10 college basketball teams in the country according to my power rankings.
My rankings unlike the Ap and Coaches polls are based on two completely separate things. I focus more on gambling and the tournament. For example, the best record, or run does not phase me. Things like the chemistry and rebounding will tell me more about how deep a team will go in March.
Which is what I focus this weekly power rankings on. How good are you against the spread? How deep do I think you can go in March?
College Basketball Power Rankings: 01/07/2025
- Kentucky
- Tennessee
- Auburn
- Houston
- Iowa State
- Marquette
- Duke
- Alabama
- Michigan State
- Illinois
- Nebraska
Tennessee might be the most dominate team so far, and for that I should reward then with the number one spot. I mean they are the only undefeated team remaining. However, the SEC will be the toughest conference this season and I believe in due time Kentucky will prove to be the best of the best.
Auburn is right behind both of those schools, possibly above Tennessee. Yet, as of right now I have to put them at third on the list.
Then the two best teams in the BIG 12 in Iowa State and Houston are neck in neck in my opinion. Both teams blowing competition out of the water like a fan on a small puddle. That is a matchup I am more than eager to see later on this season.
Then there is 6-10 on this list, in which at the moment I believe can be moved around however you see fit. Michigan State and Illinois has blown out some very good competition this season and looks to a wagon as the kids say. Duke and Alabama both proved they are a top ten team and gunning for a spot in the elite 8 come March.
The Nebraska who have quietly handle anything thrown at them. The convincing win over UCLA on Saturday forced me to give them their flowers while possible. The BIG10 can be a gauntlet, with no one knowing what to truly expect!
