The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed former Carolina Panthers running back Rico Dowdle. Dowdle gives Jaylen Warren a new running mate in the Steelers’ backfield after the team lost Kenneth Gainwell in free agency to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Dowdle has rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of the last two seasons. He began his career as a backup for the Dallas Cowboys before rushing for 1,079 yards in 2024 under Mike McCarthy. He signed with the Panthers last offseason and recorded 1,076 yards, have two or three absolute monster games.

Warren led the Steelers in rushing last season with 958 yards and six touchdowns. When healthy, Warren has been the guy for the Steelers ever since they got rid of Najee Harris.

Pittsburgh has now added three big signings to their team. Those are the following: Dowdle, cornerback Jamel Dean, and wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr.via trade from the Colts. With this looking like it could be Aaron Rodgers final season of his career and with the Steelers, Pittsburgh is looking to go all in during the first year under Mike McCarthy.
