The Miami Dolphins will sign quarterback Malik Willis to a three-year, $67.5-million contract with $45 million guaranteed, sources told Ian Rapoport. The Dolphins were in need of a starting quarterback after they decided to part ways Tua Tagovailoa at the start of the new league year.
With a new General Manager and the Head Coach Coach being from Green Bay, it only makes sense that they would want to bring in a guy that they were around and saw a good amount of. Jeff Hafley, whom the Dolphins hired as head coach in January, was very excited on the idea of bringing in Willis. Hafley was actually the main reason that the Dolphins ended up pursing Malik Willis
Willis threw for 422 yards and three touchdowns across four appearances for the Packers last season. He also ran for 123 yards and two scores in those games.
The Tennessee Titans originally selected him in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He started three games for the Titans over two seasons before being traded to Green Bay in August 2024. With this move to Miami now, Malik Willis becomes the next former first round pick to become a reclamation project. He had some good moments in Green Bay, now the Dolphins are banking on him being able to take the next step.
