LA Dodgers

At the beginning of the season, there was a little concern for the so called “big brother” of the NL West. The Los Angeles Dodgers started the season 12-13 and were in third place in the division one month in.

If you listened to the Diamondbacks, Padres, or even the Giants more or less; you would of thought the Dodgers were dead in the water.

The Diamondbacks proclaimed, like the Padres did two seasons ago, the NL West is ours!

At the time the D-Backs were one of the up and coming HOT teams in the MLB. Arizona, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati all took a step in the right direction early on.

Since July, only one of those teams stands in first place of their division, and that team is the Baltimore Orioles.

LA Dodgers Last 45 games

Over the last month and a half, the Dodgers have been the best team in baseball. They have shut the door on any questions about their talent or their winning window.

Over the last 45 games the Dodgers are 33-12. Over their last 10 games they are 9-1, and currently on a 8 game winning streak.

A month into the season they were in third place in the division. Slowly but surely they covered ground and over the last 45 games have flat out ran away with the number one spot.

While their still are 6 weeks left in the season, it feels almost like nobody in the NL West will catch this team for first place.

The Rest of the Division

The Giants are currently in second and have also had a great last 45 games or so. San Francisco is 8.5 games back right now, yet, there are still in position of a wild card spot.

About two weeks ago, the Giants, Diamondbacks, Padres, and Dodgers were all within 4 games of each other. Now the Giants are the only team within ten games of the mighty Dodgers.

The Diamondbacks and Padres have taken turns losing 5+ games straight and are in an all out fight for who can have a bigger second half collapse on the season.

In June, you would of thought the D-Backs won the division, now the reality is that this team is far, far, far from the top dog in the NL West. They are currently in third place and 12.5 games back of the LA Dodgers.

One thing is for certain, this Dodgers team is one of the top 5 teams in the entire league and do not look to slow up anytime soon. That NL West title that once seemed to belong to another team, is now feeling safe with the team it spent most of the last decade with.
