Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow won the 2024 Comeback Player of the Year award last Thursday.
Joe Burrow led the NFL in completions (460), attempts (652), passing yards (4,918), and touchdowns (43) in 2024 just a year after missing last season’s final seven games due to a wrist injury.
Burrow won the award Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold, Los Angeles Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins, New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez, and Buffalo Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin.
The Bengals quarterback gained 370 points from voters, per the Associated Press. Dobbins was picked and had the second-most points with 195, with Darnold rounded out the top three with 102.
Burrow was also a finalist for MVP and Offensive Player of the Year. Despite his spectacular season, the Bengals went 9-8 in 2024 and missed the playoffs after struggling in many different areas for most of the year, one area being the defense.
The former No. 1 overall pick was also named Comeback Player of the Year in 2021 after appearing in just 10 games as a rookie before sustaining a torn ACL. In 2021, he led the NFL with a 70% completion rate while throwing for 4,611 yards and 34 touchdowns, which were still his career highs up until this season. That was also the year he led the Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance.
