The New York Jets are releasing wide receiver Davante Adams, a source told ESPNs Adam Schefter.
Davante Adams was acquired in October from the Las Vegas Raiders for a third-round pick last season. The Jets will save $29.9 million in cap space by moving on from the veteran wideout, Schefter adds.
New York was reportedly shopping Adams this week and was expected to release him if it couldn’t find a trade partner. He was set to have a $38.2-million cap hit in 2025, according to Over The Cap.
Adams played in only 11 games with the Jets, posting 67 receptions for 854 yards and seven touchdowns. He racked up 18 catches for 209 yards and one score in two contests with the Raiders before being dealt to New York.
Adams is looking to play for a team located on the west coast, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. He is also open to playing for a winning team. There is also the outside chance he rejoins Aaron Rodgers, assuming the team fits.
Davante has earned three First-Team All-Pro nominations during his 11-year NFL run. He has 11,844 receiving yards and 103 touchdowns in 164 career games.
