Week Zero has now come and gone, and we have officially begun the College Football season for the rest of the league! Week One has some BANGERS on deck, as well as a good amount of “blowout potential games” to look through. We have action from Thursday until Monday, so this looks to be an amazing weekend of football.
Here are my plays for College Football Week One.

Straights
Friday
UNLV – Sam Houston over 61.5 (-110)
When it comes to this over, I am just fading both defense here. After last week‘s action, Sam Houston gave up 41 points while UNLV gave up 31. UNLV also looks to have a pretty bad defense, and I’m not too sure on what to think of Sam Houstons defense.
Assuming both of these teams have struggling defenses, which seems to be the case, I’ll look for the offensive to get something going. While UNLV might be able to pull away late, I fully expect both teams to score somewhere in at least the high 20s. I see this going very similar to last week, as we could see a high 30 or low 40 something score for UNLV and a high 20s low 30 for Sam Houston.
Saturday
Indiana -23.5 (-115)
Indiana looks like they might’ve gotten an upgrade to their team this year. While they were able to get a decent amount of returners from last year’s team, they also were able to upgrade some positions. One of those main upgrades was quarterback Fernando Mendoza from Cal, who a lot of people around the Hoosiers are saying might be even better than Kurtis Rourke.
While Indianas schedule may be a bit harder than last years, I fully expect this team to operate in a similar fashion. They are the more talented team than Old Dominion, so I expect Curt Cignetti and the offense to light up the scoreboard. If Indiana’s defense is able to get a couple stops, I could easily see Indiana winning this game by 30+ points.
Toledo +10.5 (-120)
This bet is a simple fade of Kentucky. Kentucky is looking like they might be one of the worst SEC teams in this league. Meanwhile, Toledo looks like they potentially could have a spark this year and maybe be something special in the MAC. I will admit this is my least favorite bet that I’m giving out this week but I do expect Toledo to keep this game close.
Toledo may not win this game, but I expect them to be within two scores as we hit the fourth quarter. If Kentucky is truly as bad as some people are saying, Toledo might be able to even win this outright. I won’t go that far myself, but I at least expect them to keep this within 10 points.
Sunday
Notre Dame -2.5 (-110)
For me, this is a bit of a fan pick as well as actually believing Notre Dame can get it done. They did lose Riley Leonard to the NFL draft as well as some other key defenders, but they do keep at least one star in Heisman candidate Jeremiyah Love. Love is coming into the season probably as the best running back in the nation. One other thing I really like is Notre Dames upgrade in the receiver room. Stanford Steve has gone on multiple shows saying how Notre Dame upgrading the wide receiver room might be the biggest upgraded all of college football.
As for the other team, they also lose a quarterback going to the NFL. Miami lost Cam Ward, but they were able to bring in Carson Beck from Georgia. It also looks like Miami was able to upgrade their defense a little bit.
When it comes to this game, I expect this to be a bit of a defensive affair to start out. I would not be shocked if the first half under ended up hitting as both these teams try to feel themselves out. However, I eventually have Notre Dame pulling away, winning this game by anywhere from 3 to 10 points I have a feeling this game will end up being close, but regardless, I like for Notre Dame to be able to come out with a win.
Parnell’s Nasty Boy Parlay Play of the Day
We JUST missed out on hitting the first Nasty Boy of the year last week. The full game under in that Nasty Boy would’ve hit if we didn’t have the hit stick fumble six, so that part is a bit sad. However, it is onwards and upwards from here!! With some many games to chose from, I think this week will be another basic Nasty Boy of one side and three totals.
I was able to get odds of +903 boosted to +1355 with a 50% boost
- Notre Dame & Miami under 26.5 points in first half (-128)
- Texas & Ohio State under 50.5 total points (-184)
- Indiana -23.5 (-115)
- Northwestern & Tulane under 45.5 total points (-105)
