Week 1 of the NFL is here! Sunday is full of divisional games, a revenge game, and some games for coaches in new places. This Sunday looks to be full of fun action!

Here are my plays for the first Sunday of NFL action.

Check out the latest episodes of the JCPod and Captain By A Hook for my full breakdowns. All odds are a mix/the best number from FanDuel, DraftKings, and BetMGM.

Straights

Colts +3 (-115)

This may be a bit of a homer pic, but I truly think the Colts can get this done. Shane Steichen is a really good play caller, and I think he will be able to get some good stuff done on the run/pass game.

The big question is? Can Anthony Richardson be good? We haven’t really seen a lot of him so it’s gonna be interesting to see how he plays this game. If he plays like how he did against Houston last year, then the Colts are capable of winning this game. I am scared of the Colts defensive backs against CJ Stroud

However, I look for the Colts to be able to at least keep it within field goal, if not win the game outright.

Dolphins – Jaguars over 49 (-110)

I’ll look for both of these offense to be able to put up points and score. I have this game looking to be about a 27 to 24 final, so that should easily reach the over.

Bengals -7.5 (-110)

When it comes to this game, Tee Higgins is out. Also, Ja’Marr Chase is questionable. However, I do have some confidence (maybe?) Ja’Marr Chase will be playing in this game.

Regardless, the Patriots on offense shouldn’t be doing too much at all. This should be a semi-easy game to start the season for the Bengals as long as the offense is in sync. Due to this, I look for the Bengals to be able to win this by 10+ points.

Bucs -3.5 (-105)

Rookies usually struggle in their first start, and that’s what I’m looking for here. Rookies lately have been 0–7–1 in their openers.

I am nervous however. The Buccaneers did lose their offensive coordinator. They did return a lot of their guys, so maybe they might learn the new system quickly.

Regardless, I look for the Buccaneers to be able to take control. This is the first game so it make take time for the Commanders as they try to learn who they are as a team with Jayden Daniels at quarterback.

Rams +4.5 (-110)

When it comes to this Sunday Night Football game, I just look for it to be a close game. I do feel as if the Lions can win this game, but 4.5 points is enough for the Rams to keep it close and within a field goal.

The Rams offense is explosive and healthy but so also is the Lions. We just need the Rams defense to get a few stops here and if they are able to, it should allow for the Rams to keep it close.

Props
