The Pittsburgh Steelers have acquired wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. from the Indianapolis Colts, reports Tom Pelissero. Pittsburgh and Indianapolis also swapped late-round picks as part of the the deal.
The Steelers would follow up this trade by then giving Pittman a three-year, $59-million extension. Pittman, who is only 28, was set to enter the final year of a three-year contract he signed with Indianapolis in 2024.
This deal lands the Steelers a second wide receiver to partner up with DK Metcalf, and will give Aaron Rodgers a very consistent target to throw to.
Indianapolis rewarded wideout Alec Pierce with a four-year, $116-million deal earlier in the offseason after deciding to move on from Pittman. Josh Downs and Ashton Dulin currently fill out the Colts’ receiving depth chart, while Tyler Warren looks to take on majority of the targets.
Michael Pittman spent six seasons with the Colts. He managed to surpass 1,000 yards twice during his tenure as well as recording 485 catches for 5,254 yards during those six years. He also has 25 touchdowns in his NFL career as well.
