Shane Steichen announced Thursday that the Colts are going to be starting Anthony Richardson vs the Buffalo Bills in the Cots preseason opener. Richardson was drafted number four overall by the Colts and has been taking the majority of the snaps with the starters in Indianapolis.

The Colts had a terrible season last year, and they are looking to bounce back from a rough quarterback drought since the retirement of Andrew Luck. Anthony Richardson could be the answer the Colts are looking for.

However, there are questions as to if Richardson is ready to start for the Colts. This is because he only played one year at Florida. Jim Irsay came on the Pat McAfee show July 10th and said “Peyton’s (Manning) first year, he went 3-13 and he played a lot of college football. So, When it comes to Anthony Richardson, we know it’s going to be tough, but he has to play to get better.”

Those words could not be more true. The only way to truly get better is to be able to experience it and learn from the mistakes. Richardson has a lot of potential to be special. It will be interesting to see how he does with his preseason start.
