The New York Liberty opened the second half of the season last night against the Los Angeles Sparks. Behind Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, and Kayla Thornton the Liberty won in blowout fashion 103-68.
Kayla Thornton scored 16 points in the win while Sabrina Ionescu scored 18 points to go along with her 6 assist. Yet, the true story last night was reigning MVP Breanna Stewart who scored a game high 27 points on an immaculate shooting night, 10-15 from the floor and 3-4 from deep.
Breanna Stewart did this only playing 20 minutes of game time, for those wondering, WNBA games are 40 minutes long. If this game wasn’t a blow out does she go for 50 last night? The way she was shooting it is hard to say no to that question.
Breanna Stewart and the New York Liberty
Breanna Stewart and the New York Liberty are in the zone and looking like a team hungry for a championship. On Saturday we get a rematch of last years finals matchup as the Liberty fly to Las Vegas to take on the back to back champion Aces.
The Liberty have the best record in the league at 22-4 and tied with the Aces odds wise to win the championship. Both teams are +155 at FanDuel Sports Book.
With 14 games left on the schedule for the Liberty they will be tuning up and looking forward to playoff basketball over the next few weeks.
Breanna Stewart won the MVP last season and would need a few more performances like this to take it away from A’ja Wilson this season. As A’ja Wilson seemingly has already won the award with books having her priced at -3000. Stewart is priced at +9000 for context.
