Wow. In some shocking events on a Wednesday afternoon in January, we have some massive breaking news. Alabama Football Coach Nick Saban has announced his retirement from coaching.
This was first reported by Chris Low of ESPN.
Nick Saban will go down as one of the greatest college football coaches, if not the greatest, of all time.
The six-time national champion and 11 time SEC champion coach will be remembered most for his 17 seasons at Alabama, where he grew the Crimson Tide into a powerhouse. He had a team ranked number one in the 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 seasons.
He oversaw the program’s first four Heisman Trophy winners in Mark Ingram, Derrick Henry, DeVonta Smith and Bryce Young.
Saban also holds the all time records for most 1st round NFL players produced (49) and the most 1st round NFL players produced from one school (44).
He retires from coaching with a college record of 292-71-1 with 201 of those victories coming at the University of Alabama.
More info to come. In the meantime, THANK YOU COACH SABAN.
