The Philadelphia Eagles have re-signed tight end Dallas Goedert to a one-year deal, sources told Mike Garafolo.
Dallas Goedert was originally scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. However, Philly and the veteran agreed to push the void date on his contract back to allow them time to make a deal, according to The Athletic’s Zach Berman. The Eagles would’ve eaten a $20-million dead cap hit in 2026 if Goedert didn’t re-sign. The new deal allows Philly to push the dead money into future years.
Dallas Goedert recorded 60 receptions for 591 yards on 82 targets last season. Along with that, his 11 touchdowns were tied with Trey McBride for the most among tight ends in the league.
The 31-year-old has been with the Eagles since being drafted in the second round in 2018 and will enter his ninth season with the team.
Dallas Goedert always has done well when there was either DeVonta Smith or AJ Brown missing time due to injury. Now with AJ Brown on the New England Patriots along with Eli Stowers not ready to start the season, Goedert looks to be a strong number two option behind Smith. Makai Lemon could end up overtaking him and making Goedert the number three option, but the start of the season should see Goedert getting a decent amount of targets
