Winners
- Texas
Texas had an awesome game on Saturday night. Traveling to Alabama, this game was a potential foresight into what we could see in the SEC. Anytime Alabama had a big moment, Texas seemed to answer and lil any momentum Alabama had. This could be one of the biggest wins in Texas history, and this is a season changing win. With this win now, Texas is officially in the College Football Playoff conversation.
- Colorado
With a dominant win against Nebraska and some help with losses, Colorado zooms up a few more spots to 18. This team started the season in the 80’s. It took just two weeks to get up to 18 in the new AP poll. They should probably even be a bit higher than this, some argue. A team projected to just win 3 games. This team has stars on the outsides, but the big questions are the trenches. Regardless, they keep finding ways to win and be good. Sheduer Sanders continues to impress, and I look forward to Colorado-USC in two weeks.
- Washington State
WSU got a huge upset win over Wisconsin. Receiving votes last week, this Washington State team was on the verge of bursting into the top 25. This is just the type of win they needed. The upset of Wisconsin has now moved WSU to 23 in the new AP poll. They look to continue this momentum against another Colorado.
Losers
- Alabama
That was a must win game for Alabama. While this is not nearly as bad for other teams, this is bad for Alabama standard’s. Entering the game with a 21 game home win streak and a record of 28-2 against his assistants. While Alabama may still be able to reach the CFP, they will not have a bit of a tougher road. They will most likely need to win out now to make it to the College Football Playoffs.
2. Wisconsin
With a tough loss to Washington State, Wisconsin saw themselves fall out of the top 25. Wisconsin faces plenty of questions two games into Luke Fickell’s tenure. While it has not been the smoothest so far, there is still hope that they can figure it out. Being the favorites to win the Big 10 West, this was a loss Wisconsin could not afford. They will look to bounce back next week, as another loss will put this season into a potential tailspin.
3. Clemson
Clemson only earns this spot since they dropped out of the top 25. We could see them come back as early as next week. However, this is not the same Clemson team of the past. There are many questions around Clemson, and I truly do not know how good they really are. They are a really good football team, but can they hang with other powerhouses trying to make the CFP? Clemson will look to get things right against FAU next week, as number 3 Florida State comes to town in week 4.
