The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Vita Vea have agreed to terms on a one-year, $30-million extension, sources told Adam Schefter. The 31-year-old was scheduled to earn $18 million this season prior to his extension.
The Buccaneers confirmed late last week that Vea, who was entering the final year of his deal before this new deal was done, is under contract for two more seasons with his extension. He will also receive $6 million in new money this year, Schefter adds.
Vea had originally requested a trade in July after the two sides couldn’t agree on a new contract. However, the Bucs never publicly expressed interest in moving the defensive tackle. Then as it got closer to the season, Schefter  reported that the two sides started talking again and were actually close to a deal. Next thing we know, an extension has been signed
The Bucs selected Vea 12th overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s been a force of nature and a massive part of their defensive line ever since. He has started 107 games over his career, and now continues to be a one helmet guy.
