TJ Hockenson got himself a big bag.

In the final year of his rookie deal, the 26 year old tight end was going into the year on a rookie deal. However, that has now changed. The Vikings  and Hockenson have agreed on a 4 year extension that will see him get paid 68.5 million dollars with 42.5 million being guaranteed, per Adam Schefter.

The $17.125-million average annual value makes Hockenson the highest-paid tight end in NFL history. The Vikings  traded a second round pick in the 2023 draft and a fourth rounder in the 2024 draft to the division foe  Detroit Lions for Hockenson.

In 10 games with Minnesota last year, the 26 year old had 60 catches for 519 yards and three touchdowns. Hockenson was selected with the No. 8 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Lions, so the young 26 year old looks to have a few more good seasons.

This was a huge add for the Vikings last season, who were dealing with injury to tight end Irv Smith. TJ Hockenson will look to have a strong season this year with the Vikings and Head Coach/play-caller Kevin O’Connell.
