Big time college basketball matchup on Friday night as Kansas host UNC. Kansas is the number 1 ranked team in the nation while UNC holds the number 9 spot on ESPN’s top 25 AP Poll.

Kansas came out swinging and took a dominant lead into the half. The score was 53-38 with Kansas holding the lead.

Like a coin, this game had two halves that were completely different. UNC came out in the second half with energy and chipped away bucket by bucket. The second half score was 51-39 in UNC’s favor.

However the effort came 3 points short as Kansas showed resilience down the stretch to hold on to the victory, 92-89.

Six Tar Heels reached double digits in the losing effort led by Seth Trimble’s 19. Outside of UNC’s first half struggles, the deep ball was also a problem for them, only shooting 30.4% from behind the arc.

Zeke Mayo was the high point man for Kansas scoring 21 points off the bench. Four other Jayhawks chipped in double digits and big man Hunter Dickinson tallied a 20 point, 10 rebound double double. Including big free throws late for Kansas.

This game had the hype of an elite game and lived up to it. Absolute thriller and it is only November. The Madness is real, let the Madness begin!

UNC has a give me game coming up against American while Kansas will play Michigan State on Tuesday in the State Farm Champions Classic.
