UConn Basketball has a special recipe that is starting to get them noticed. Okay, winning the championship last season and coming back looking like they are poised to do it again is why they are getting noticed.
Last season we watch and coach Dan Hurley staggered minutes between a sensational big man in Adama Sanogo and freshman Donovan Clingan. This season he is at it again.
Donovan Clingan now starts, and coming off of the bench, amazing freshman Samson Johnson standing at 6’10.
Texas got out rebounded by UConn 40 to 29 last night and watching the game, the Huskies were dominating the paint. UConn with the 10 point win, 81-71.
UConn Basketball Wire to Wire Lead
The Huskies led the entire game, starting the first possession off with a corner three at the shot clock buzzer. The biggest lead of the game for UConn was 16 as they cruised to victory.
At one point late Texas made it a four point game, which did not last long. Huge shots down the stretch for Alex Karaban lifted the Huskies to the win.
Both teams actually shot the ball pretty well, both around 45-47%. Texas could not keep up inside, as UConn had 7 blocks to their 3 and out rebounded the Longhorns 40-29.
Stand Out Players

Karaban led the way with 20 points and 6 rebounds coming up huge down the stretch. Clingan only played 12 minutes which allowed Samson Johnson to have a great game of 15 points and 8 rebounds.
Cam Spencer scored 16 points and had 5 assist, while Tristen Newton dropped a solid 8 points, 8 assist, and 4 rebounds.
I know it is still early in the season, but I got a feeling we will see UConn with at least a chance to go back to back come March. This team just has another gear.
Texas Basketball
Tyrese Hunter was a playmaker for Texas all game long, finishing with 13 points, 7 assist, and 5 rebounds.
Dillion Mitchell had a huge game scoring wise, and for most of the game kept it close by himself. He scored 21 points to go along with his 8 rebounds.
