We are through the first week of college basketball, and boy was it a good one. We saw number 4 taken down in upset fashion on the first night of the season. There were a number of tournament like games, capped off by a great one Friday night between Arizona and Duke.

We saw most of the big name schools dominant all week, and now looking forward we will learn even more fairly soon. This week ahead has some huge matchups, it feels as if the madness is beginning NOW!

College Basketball Big Matchups this Week

Starting off on Monday with a huge matchup between St. John’s and Michigan. Two teams both trying to find their identity and prove their worth to the committee.

Tuesday is a blockbuster slate headlined by Michigan State against Duke and Kansas vs Kentucky. Also on Tuesday two matchups worth keeping an eye on, Illinois vs Marquette and Iowa vs Creighton. Two Elite 8 or final 4 style games and two first or second round style games, what a treat.

Later in the week on Thursday a game between St. Mary’s and San Diego State will be one to watch. Two teams who will be looking to make a deep run in the tournament.

After One Week of College Basketball

We have learn a lot and nothing at the same time, teams are 2-0 and looking great while some teams at 1-1 have fire alarm hazards around them.

The next three weeks will be huge in grading teams and ranking them properly going into the conference schedule.

With the madness beginning in November now, I am sure a lot of these teams can not wait to get to some familiar gyms in conference play.

The season is still young and 80% of so called fans still haven’t even thought about college hoops. With football season hitting it’s pinnacle.

One thing is certain this season, the way teams are scheduling non conference games now makes college basketball a must watch for fans of the sport. We are in the best era ever for CBB competition and the fans are the ones benefiting the most.

Let’s try to blindly ignore the future of conference realignment for now, because for now, the sport is at it’s best.

College Basketball is back and this is what it’s all about.
