Michael McLoone – USA TODAY Sports

As August gets closer and closer to September, the race in the MLB is heating up. “Which race?”, you ask, well all of them. From the divisions getting tighter, and the wild card even tighter than that.

This last 5 weeks of baseball is gonna be special, maybe not as special as last year with the Mariners playoff run enlightening a corner of the nation and Judge’s chase for 61 homers on the other end.

I say all of that to say this, boy oh boy, I can not wait for some playoff baseball. Yet, the journey and the race’s throughout the season, make it all even better. Everybody likes a good storyline, right?

First Bet: Backing Burnes

The Brewers of Milwaukee will host the Minnesota Twins this evening, with Corbin Burnes (9-6, 3.43) on the mound and a 4 game winning streak coming in.

The Twins are 5-5 over their last 10 games and all season have not truly been challenged in the division race. Not only do the Brewers have more pressure on their back coming down the stretch, I think they know it.

Kenta Maeda (3-7, 4.13) has struggled to stay consistent and finding the zone all season. If the Brewers can be patient at the plate, they will be spoon fed some runs.

Give me the Brewers with Burnes on the mound tonight. (Brewers -1.5 +150)
