MLB Bets: (08/24/2023)
My favorite day to bet baseball is among us. After hearing the tragic news about Ohtani, I pondered for a minute of what it meant moving forward for all three parties. The fans, the Angels, and the most important, the man.
After those few moments of pondering, I snapped out of my gaze to the realization that I have not placed my bets yet. Let’s check out my bet slip for today.
The Red Beard: MLB Bets (08/24/2023)
First Bet: Over in the Bronx
The New York Yankees behind Aaron Judge’s three home run performance last night put up 9 runs and declared that they are back. After a 9 game losing streak, I find that humorous.
Tonight for the Nationals, Patrick Corbin (8-11, 4.71) will take the mound. He has a reputation amongst bettors to fade him at all times, however he has been on fire and shaken that notion the second half of this season.
The Nationals have actually been one of the best offenses in baseball in the month of August, and with the Yankees being “back” it is a no brainer for me today.
Give me the Over 8.5 in this one. (Nationals/Yankees O 8.5 -125)
Second Bet: At Home in Houston
The Red Sox are one of the most up and down teams this season. One thing for sure is that this offense can put up 7 runs with a sneeze. Brayan Bello (9-7, 3.70) has been getting better with every start as the season goes on for the Red Sox.
Houston has not been consistent either the last few weeks. The Astros are looking to get a groove going right on time for the playoffs. Tonight at home I will back the reigning champs, with my fingers crossed of course.
Give me the Astros at home on the money line. (Astros ML -125)
Third Bet: O’s Baby
Baltimore Orioles had a fantastic game last night against the Toronto Blue Jays, winning 7-0. Tonight with Kyle Gibson (12-7, 4.97) on the mound, the team looks to stay hot.
The Orioles have been in first place of the division since sometime in July, while the Blue Jays have been going the opposite way.
After a bumpy August they find themselves further from the playoff picture than before. Currently being 1 game out of the wild card spot that they held all season and 8.5 games behind the O’s in the division.
The Blue Jays were a lot of “sharps” pick to win the World Series this season, yet have disappointed compared to expectations.
