MLB Bets: (08/21/2023)

Monday, August 21st, 2023. While the world around us turns their attention to the college football slate of games on Saturday, and the NFL games in two weeks, there is still baseball to bet on.
Yes, I will have college football and NFL bets weekly on this website as well as my show on Youtube, “Captain By A Hook with The Red Beard”.
Right now the thick of the playoff race is brewing in the MLB, and that is about as much excitement as my mind can take today.
I only have one bet for tonight, it is a simple fade of Giolito.
The Red Beard: MLB Bets
First Bet: Red Hot Red Legs
The Cincinnati Reds need to find a groove after becoming complacent over the last month to six weeks.
At 64-61 and on the fringe of both the wild card spot and winning their division, this team has a chance against a beat down Angels team to get a few wins.
Now the Angels are in their own right, chasing a playoff birth as well. Angels of Anaheim are streaky scary, as in every few series they look like one of the best teams in baseball. Which could happen against the Reds who struggle to stay consistent in the batters box.
This game is a 50/50 either way type of deal, until I look at the starters. Graham Ashcraft (6-8, 4.89) has struggled to find his footing at this level, yet he has looked better over his last few starts.
Lucas Giolito (7-9, 4.44) has been worse than these numbers insinuate. Since coming to the Angels in early August, the city of Anaheim has cried to send him back.
Tonight I am all over this Reds lineup to get things rolling early and not stopping until the cows come home.
The smart and not greedy bettor would probably just take the money line. Yet, give me the Reds on the reverse run line, for maximum value on the team. Turn the +1.5 into a -1.5. (Reds -1.5 +170)
MLB Bets: Recap
Reds -1.5 +170
