MLB Bets: (08/11/2023)

In my first week of writing her at Stare Down Sports we were able to 7-6 through the first four days. As a treat for the first Friday of this website and company being up and running, I got 5 bets for us today.
The Red Beard: MLB Bets
First Bet: Kopech = Fade
The Brewers are holding on to the top spot in the NL Central due to the Reds completely falling off a cliff since August has started, right? Well some of that is true, the other side of that is that Milwaukee has been playing good baseball.
A team that has not been playing good baseball this season is the Chicago White Sox. Tonight the put Michael Kopech (5-10, 4.43) on the mound who has been a sour taste in White Sox faithful’s mouth all season long.
With former Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes on the mound, it is a no brainer for me to ride the Brew Crew here and ride em hard.
Give me the Brewers on the run line here at almost even money. (Brewers -1.5 -105)
Second Bet: Verlander Returns
Tonight when the Angels take on the Astros, Justin Verlander will get his first start back in the navy blue and orange this season. After winning a championship with the Astros last season and leaving in free agency, he was traded back to Houston at the deadline.
The Angels have won two in a row, however before that there lost 7 in a row and are 3-7 over there last ten. Given the atmosphere tonight surrounding Verlander’s return and the fact that I do not trust this Angels team at all.
Give me the Stros on the run line tonight. (Astros -1.5 +110)
Third Bet: Don’t Do It
This bet is the scariest of the day, for the avid gambler who loves the rush. The Padres will travel to Arizona tonight to face the Diamondbacks. Blake Snell (8-8, 2.61) will face Ryne Nelson (6-6, 5.61).
Both of these teams are struggling right now to get a win, and both teams need wins badly. Padres have lost 4 straight while the D-Backs have lost 8 straight, yikes.
The more I think and type about this game the less I want to bet it, however the deed is already done. The only thing left to do it cross my fingers and watch it play out.
Give the Padres on the run line here on the road. (Padres -1.5 EVEN)
MLB Bets: Money Lines
Fourth Bet: Plus Money on the O’s
Before I give a break down on this game I want to state the obvious, the Mariners are on a 7 game win streak. The Mariners have their ace on the mound tonight in Luis Castillo (7-7, 3.21).
For some reason I have fallen in love with betting Baltimore with Kyle Gibson on the mound, which is exactly what is happening tonight. The Orioles have had a tough week off the field as well as on it.
However all things should be back to normal as they picked up a big win last night and the Kevin Brown issue has as of now been resolved. I am going to jump back on the O’s train.
Give me the Orioles on the money line at plus money. (Orioles ML +125)
Fifth Bet: Rangers on the Road
The Giants are one tough team to play at their place up in San Francisco, however the Rangers have the talent needed to get the job done.
This bet is more of a numbers bet than anything else. No, I do not love the pitching matchup as far as starters go. Yet, I do like the Rangers bullpen over the Giants if it comes down to that.
I also like the Rangers lineup and what they have been able to do all season long is win games. They have shown me they can win games in multiple ways on the baseball field, so it is a no brainer for me to back them tonight in San Francisco.
Give me the Rangers on the money line with a little cup of juice. (Rangers ML -120)
MLB Bets: Recap
Brewers -1.5 -105
Astros -1.5 +110
Padres -1.5 EVEN
Orioles ML +125
Rangers ML -120
