Oregon Basketball: First Game Reaction.

The Oregon Ducks started their season off in Las Vegas against the Georgia Bulldogs. The Ducks came away with an impressive win, 82-71, and had up to a 20 point lead for most of the second half.
Oregon’s sized was on full display. Both on the defensive and offensive side of the floor. An early thought came to my mind, this looks like a sweet 16 team.
The selfless passing and athletic finishes to end breaks had the looks and feel of a team rolling on all cylinders.
Behind N’Faley Dante’s performance, Oregon puts the Pac-12 on notice.
Oregon Basketball: Size
Oregon shot 42.5% from the field led by a trio of Brennan Rigsby, Jermaine Couisnard, and N’Faley Dante. Rigsby and Dante scored 16, while Couisnard added in 14 himself.
Couisnard also led the team in assist with five. The Oregon defense was able to hold Georgia to a bad shooting night at 33.8%.
However this game was won on the boards. Where the most mind blowing stat of the night belongs to N’Faley Dante, who ended the night with a monster double-double. He snagged 21 rebounds to go along with his 16 points.
Oregon out rebounded Georgia 63 to 41. In route to this they dominated the offensive glass and lived at the rim.
Oregon’s Athleticism on the Break
When the Ducks were not bullying the Bulldogs in the paint, they were out running them in transition.
Living at the rim, scoring 82 points total on only 6 made threes. Oregon only attempted 15 three point shot’s compared to Georgia’s 30, only making 10 of their attempts.
The Ducks were highflying on fast breaks leaving highlight dunks on tape.
Oregon Ducks After One Game…
I am impressed. They looked like a team playing a game in mid February. Scoring with ease, and locking down on defense when they mentally wanted too.
This is an early prediction, and some would say a bold one. Only time will tell, yet I can see this Oregon team playing in the Sweet 16 come March.
They are that talented. They will be in the battle for this final Pac-12 regular season title as well.
