Minnesota Lynx Kicking Butt and Taking Names.

The Minnesota Lynx are at the top of the Western Conference in the WNBA through the first twelve games and have the third best record in the entire league at 9-3.
The only two teams ahead of them are the 10-1 Connecticut Sun and the 11-2 New York Liberty.
Minnesota Lynx Recent Dominance
In their last two games the Lynx dominated tough opponents and did with a flurry of scoring from multiple players. The most impressive thing, however, has to be their defense.
They took on a rowdy Seattle Storm team who had won six in a row prior to facing off against the Lynx and held them to 64 points. Winning in blowout fashion 83-64.
Then last night they traveled to Las Vegas to take on the reigning back to back champions in the Aces, a team who has struggled out of the gate this season, having a record sitting at 5-5 after last nights loss. The score looks more respectful than the game was, as the Lynx held a 20 point lead most of the game. It finished 100-86.
Things Got Chippy
The wins as impressive as they are, are not the most impressive thing. In both games the Lynx defense was so fierce that both the Aces and the Storm took offense to it. Both games in the second half had a stretch of frustration turning into flare ups on the court.
These flare ups were nothing more than mere huddles of players saying God knows what about each other and their mothers. Yet, the fact remains the Lynx are getting under teams skin.
Long Range Shooting
On top of the hard nosed defense on display from Minnesota, they have put on a clinic from long range shooting. Whether it is the sniper, Kayla McBride hitting 7+ threes in back to back games, or like last night where the whole team got involved.
As a whole they are shooting 51% so far from the field and 38% from behind the arc. Their sharp shooting was on full display against the Aces.
Kayla McBride shot 2-3 from deep. While Alana Smith who has blossomed and flourished in her role, getting better with each game shot 4-6 from three. Like a good informercial, but wait there’s more. Bridget Carleton chipped in with 5 three’s on 7 attempts. It felt like this team could not miss last night, going a combined 16 for 27 from deep.
Although it is mighty early, this Minnesota Lynx team is putting the WNBA on notice. They are kicking butt and taking names.
