Michigan Basketball has started the season 2-0 so far and really impressed me in the fashion in which they win. Scoring the ball as if it were an art of accuracy. Shooting greater than 52% in each game.

The Wolverines went into their season opener as 10 and a half point favorites. Only to shoot the lights out of the gym and walk away with a 25 point win.

In their second game against Youngstown St, the books adjusted, setting Michigan as a 17 point favorite, somewhere in that range. Again they shot the lights out of the gym, and this time walked away with a 30 point victory.

This Michigan team has surprised and impressed me in many ways early on in this season.

Michigan Basketball: New Brand

This is a new brand of Michigan basketball, maybe the best team under Juan Howard that we have seen yet.

A stout and quick, in your face style defense pushing opponents any direction except for the goal. While playing with a reckless abandon when it comes to shot taking.

As far as shot making, this team is either the luckiest team in history, or just the best shooting team this week. This team does not miss, and literally has 3 different players across the two games who went an entire game, with out a miss.

Transfer from Tennessee, Olivier Nkamhoua is by far this teams best player, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds while shooting 7 for 7 from the floor with 4 assist and one three pointer in their latest game against Youngstown St. In the opener Nkamhoua scored 25 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and shot an efficient 11 for 16 on the game.

His two running mates have been Dug McDaniel and Terrence Williams the Second. McDaniels scored 22 with 8 assist in their first game, then came back and scored another 16 points in game 2. Williams has had two consistently good games; 15 and 6 followed by a 13 and 8 game for his second performance.

Michigan Basketball Rolling

Juan Howard will be the first to tell you that his first few seasons were a bit of a disappointment. This season is just getting started, yet it feels like something special is happening with this team.

Their first real test will come Monday against Rick Pitino coached St. John’s. Olivier Nkamhoua and Dug McDaniels will be the two most important players the entire season for the Wolverines.

One thing is for sure, college basketball is back and this is what it is all about.
